TCP Presents: Shoulder to Shoulder 2020
On June 9th we gathered church leaders and pastors in Chicago for a time of encouragement and solidarity at our first ever online TCP Presents, Shoulder to Shoulder in Chicago, with special guest, Dr. Bryan Loritts. If you missed the virtual gathering, we encourage you to watch and share this 45 minute recording.
The Chicago Partnership (TCP) is a multi-ethnic, multi-denominational team of leaders from local churches working to help make Jesus visible in every neighborhood of Chicago. Here are some initiatives mentioned at the virtual gathering that you might be interested in:
1) Adopt A Family with Chicago Delivers. Throughout history, the Church has always stepped up in times of greatest need to serve those most in need. Chicago Delivers has been able to provide $400,000+ in groceries delivered to the home of 5,000+ people in a matter of a couple months. Yet, we know that this is only the beginning. We want to connect these families to churches in their immediate neighborhood that provide long term relationships that meet physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Find more details here.
2) Call for Human Dignity in Policing. We are calling on the Mayor of the City of Chicago, the Chief of Police, the State’s Attorney, the Fraternal Order of Police, and Police Board to embrace a “zero tolerance” policy toward any and all excessive use of force including disrespect of any member of the public’s personhood or property, unnecessary verbal aggression, unjust discharge or use of a weapon, and other violations of human dignity. 3) Church Leadership Cohort. If you (or others in your church) envision planting a church, revitalizing a church or pastoring a church in the city of Chicago, then the TCP Leadership Cohort is for you. The Cohort consists of meeting the first Saturday of every month October through May for training and networking. Find more info and sign up here.
